Social Media

My research topic is, "How has social media changed the way we communicate with each other?" I plan on researching how daily communication has changed, how people's lives have been affected, and how social media can be a positive or negative influence for those who frequently use it. Since the invention of the internet, there has been a paradigm shift in regards to communication. No longer does it take days, weeks, or months to communicate with or hear back from someone. On a larger scale, this is undoubtedly beneficial for globalization and cultural diversification. I will research the pros and cons of social media and look at specific related studies to see how communication has changed.

  1. I agree, not only has social media changed the way we communicate with eachother; but how our images are portrayed to the rest of the world as well. Globalization (in the sense of being able to communicate almost instantly over seas) is definitely a huge factor in social medias success. Now anyone can be a reporter (or so to say) and news can spread like wild fire at the touch of a button.

  2. Very interesting points. I always found it paradoxical how these social networks in theory make us more together but in the real world, we have never been farther from each other. Currently, I see a trend of continual virtualization of our communication between each other. It is scary to think about it in today's term but it could be inevitable.
